The National Marine Life Center Campaign

NMLC Business Leadership Circle

The NMLC Business Leadership Circle is a membership program that offers business leaders the opportunity to earn recognition by demonstrating their support for the development of the National Marine Life Center, for the Cape Cod environment, and for science education and marine research. Visibility and networking opportunities are just two of the benefits to NMLC - BLC members.

The program is chaired by Jeffrey P. Luce of the NSTAR Corporation. "The NMLC is without doubt one of the most exciting enterprises to come to the Cape and Islands in years!" Luce notes. "This is my chance to give something back to Bourne and to the region."

NMLC - BLC Membership is open to any company or business leader. There are several annual membership levels beginning at $250. All members receive a certificate or plaque announcing their support of this highly visible project. Members who commit $100,000 or more (which can be payable over several years) earn permanent public recognition by putting their company's name on a pool or educational exhibit.

Because the NMLC has a 501 (c)(3) designation for the IRS, contributions are tax-deductible. This can be an added benefit to companies that join the Business Leadership Circle.
The NMLC - BLC sponsors annual meetings for networking and updates on the project. Featured speakers have been Congressman William Delahunt who also received an award for his role in securing federal funds for part of the building renovation, Joseph R. Geraci, VMD, PhD, an international expert in marine mammal care, and Judith Walden Scarafile, a pharmacist, head of the Cape Cod Baseball League and Trustee of the Yawkey Foundations.

Benefits of membership include:
* Visibility. Founding members will have permanent recognition in the completed facility.
* Association with a project that has gained high visibility, with editorial support from the Cape   Cod Times and several local publications.
* Association with a project that has environmental, economic, and educational benefits to the
   region.
* Other benefits depending on the level of annual membership.
