Drop-In Public Programs

The National Marine Life Center is OPEN for the summer, and – beginning the week of June 26, 2016 – offers a variety of drop-in educational programs.
~ Cost: $3 members/$5 non-members per child per program, except where noted.
~ All proceeds help fund NMLC’s rehabilitation, science, and education programs.
~ RSVP required for large groups.

Little Flippers Story Time & Crafts
Tuesday & Thursday, 11 am (BEGINNING TUESDAY, JUNE 28)
(All ages are welcome and best suited for ages 3-8.  Children must be supervised.)
Story time at 11 am, followed by an Arts & Crafts project. Different theme each day (see below)!
Cost $3 members/$5 non-members per child per program.

Marine Animal Medical MysteryIMG_5938
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11 am (BEGINNING MONDAY, JUNE 27)

(Recommended for ages 8-14. Parents/guardians welcome to participate.)
What does it take to be a marine animal care technician? What are some of the questions and mysteries involved in wildlife rehabilitation and research? Each day we’ll use models to learn how to care for or study a different animal. Daily themes are listed below.
Cost $3 members/$5 non-members per child per program.

Learn the stories of the marine animal patients currently in our care from a member of our Animal Care Team. View our current patients via live, closed-circuit TV and meet our small turtles in person. Program lasts approximately 15-20 minutes. FREE, donations welcome. All donations help care for our marine wildlife patients.

  • Week of Aug. 7: Mermaid & Pirate Party! (Costumes optional!)

  • Week of Aug. 21: Manatees & Dugongs
