Marine Animal Discovery Center & Gift Shop

The National Marine Life Center’s Marine Animal Discovery Center and Gift Shop is open from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, 10-5 daily.  We’re also open select days throughout the fall, winter, and spring.

An educational experience about helping sea life on Cape Cod, the Marine Animal Discovery Center features educational displays, specimens, and information about marine animals, strandings, rehabilitation, marine science, and ocean conservation.

NMLC’s Gift Shop features a unique selection of local art, jewelry, educational toys & games, eco-friendly, and fair trade items with a marine theme.  Shop for a good cause!  All proceeds benefit NMLC’s marine animal rehabilitation, science, and education programs.

FEBRUARY VACATION WEEK 2012 SCHEDULE:

Marine Animal Discovery Center OPEN
February 18-26, 10 am – 5 pm.

~ For the Love of Turtles Open House, February 18, 10-2:  Join us for our February Open House! Explore the Discovery Center, make a marine animal valentine, enjoy arts and crafts and games and refreshments. Meet Catch-22, Bruce, Vesuvius, and Pierce, and our eight hatchlings. Tour our new marine animal hospital.  Members:  FREE.  Non-members:  $5/person.

~ Fins & Flippers Club.  Monday (Feb. 20) through Friday (Feb. 24) at 11 a.m.  Join us for a marine animal-themed story time!  Different themes every day.  All ages welcome; most suitable for children ages 3-8.  Children must be supervised.  Daily Themes:  Feb. 20: Sea Turtles; Feb. 21: Seals; Feb. 22: Dolphins & Whales; Feb. 23: Manatees; Feb. 24: Sharks.
Members:  $3/child/program.  Non-members:  $5/child/program

~ Marine Animal Medical Mystery.  Monday (Feb. 20) through Friday (Feb. 24) at 2 p.m.  What does it take to be a marine animal care technician?  What are some of the questions and “mysteries” involved in wildlife rehabilitation?  Each day we’ll learn how to care for a different animal.  Best suited for ages 8-12.  Space is limited to 12 children.  Please reserve your spot by calling (508) 743-9888, x-12 at least 24 hours in advance.
Members:  $3/child/program.  Non-members:  $5/child/program
