Charitable Gift Annuities

A National Marine Life Center (NMLC) Charitable Gift Annuity can provide for your future and help NMLC provide a facility to care for stranded marine animals, advance science, and educate children for generations to come.  The Charitable Gift Annuity is a popular gift plan among people seeking to increase their retirement income.

A Charitable Gift Annuity is a contractual agreement between the donor and the National Marine Life Center.  The contract specifies:

1.  You choose to support National Marine Life Center, Inc. by making a gift of cash, securities, or property.  The minimum gift to fund a charitable gift annuity in the US is $5,000.
2.  The contract specifies that NMLC agrees to pay the donor, a spouse, or other named person a guaranteed sum for the rest of your lives.
3.  Upon the death of the beneficiaries, what remains of the original gift principal is available to NMLC to further its work to rehabilitate marine animals, advance science, and promote environmental education.

Beneficiaries age 60 or older are eligible to receive immediate income from a NMLC Charitable Gift Annuity.  For those younger than 60, NMLC’s Deferred-Payment Charitable Gift Annuity may be a suitable choice.

Valuable benefits of this gift plan include:
~ Guaranteed, fixed income – partly tax-free in most instances;
~ Immediate tax savings from the charitable deduction;
~ Relief from capital gains taxes if using appreciated stock or property sold;
~ Removal of the asset from estate tax liability.
