Help Send Triton Home!
Triton is a yearling male gray seal who was admitted to the National Marine Life Center on Monday, July 30. To read more and see photos of his wounds on arrival, click here.
While we initially thought his wounds were caused by a propeller (click here for our reasoning), recent consultation with experts from IFAW and WHOI suggested they may be a shark bite as initially reported. Regardless of the cause, the wounds were serious and it’s been amazing to see how well he has healed!
We are pleased to announce that Triton is approved for release and is ready to go home! You are invited to join us to cheer him on. Here are the details….
What: Triton Seal Release
When: Sunday, September 15, 2013
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Where: Scusset Beach State Reservation, 20 Scusset Beach Road, Sagamore Beach, MA (right at the end of the main boardwalk down to the beach)
These are the success stories we all work so hard to achieve. But it doesn’t come easily. It can cost hundreds – even thousands – of dollars to rehabilitate a seal. Please, consider a special donation in honor of Triton. You can help send him home.
On behalf of Triton, thank you!
