Great Holiday Gifts Available at NMLC – National Marine Life Center

As you start to put together those holiday shopping lists don’t forget the animal lovers and conservationists in your life. The National Marine Life Center has some great holiday gift options available in our gift shop! Make your holiday shopping count this season, shop at the National Marine Life Center where your purchases will benefit marine animal rehabilitation, conservation, and science!

Animal Adoptions– Our animal adoption packages are always a favorite holiday gift. You can select one of our current or past marine animal patients to adopt for a loved one or yourself this holiday season. This is the perfect gift for the person who has it all. For a $35 donation you will receive an 8 1/2” x 11” animal profile including color photos and background information on your selected marine animal patient, a 10” plush animal (seal or sea turtle depending on the patient you select), a certificate for a 1 year family membership to the National Marine Life Center, and an official adoption certificate. You can adopt the sea turtle or seal of your choice including: current harbor seal patients Seal Rogers Williams, Alicia Sealvertone, Sealock Holmes, and Stephen King or current Kemps ridley sea turtle patients Gunst, Jedi and Nicky. Many of our past seal and sea turtle patients are also available. Adoptions may be purchased on-line or in person at NMLC.

NMLC Patient Photos- Purchase a matted photograph of one of NMLC’s patients. Choose your favorite photo of one of our 2014-2015 seal or sea turtle patients taken during their rehabilitation or release. We have matted prints available in 5×7 for $15 or 8×10 for $25. Help someone remember the patient they adopted or simply purchase a beautiful photo captured by our animal care staff. Your purchase will support the rehabilitation of future patients.

Natural Soaps and Candles- We have partnered with some other local Cape Cod Companies to feature these great products in our gift shop. Pick from the Splash candle by Cape Cod Soy Candle at $10 or handcrafted natural soaps by Summerhouse Soaps in several sea themed scents for $6.99. They smell wonderful and either would make a great stocking stuffer, or teacher gift!

Stylish T-Shirts- Your loved ones could be stylin like our summer inters. We have adorable t-shirts available in both seal and sea turtle designs! Adult and youth sizes available most $17.99 Let everyone know you and your loved ones support marine animal rehabilitation!

Seal Turtle Backpacks & Marine Animal Change purses- These adorable backpacks and change purses will make anyone smile. Deck the kids out with their favorite animal while supporting NMLC.

Recycled Plastic Bag Change Purses & Hand Bags- These unique bags are made completely from recycled plastic shopping bags! Help keep plastics out of our ocean’s and spread the word about the harm they can cause to sea turtles and other marine life. These purses and bags ranging from $14-31.50 are handmade by women in Costa Rica and Panama, and use 60-80 plastic bags that would otherwise be discarded waste. They are washable and 100% eco friendly.

Marine Themed Children’s Books- We have several marine animal themed books by local authors available for purchase. Some of our favorites are “Every Turtle Counts” by Sara Hoagland Hunter, ” Cecilia the Seal Gets a Meal” by Jim Coogan, and “Chesterton Saves The Whale” By Dean Coe. All three stories take place right here on Cape Cod. Pick up one for the young reader in your life.

Plush Animals- As always we have the ever important stuffed animals! Available in all sizes we have seals, turtles, whales, dolphins, sharks, penguins, manatees, and even mermaids ranging from $5-$25.

Stop by our offices at 120 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, the Discovery Center will be open Thanksgiving weekend Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 10am-5pm with hospital tours available at 11am & 3pm, or come visit us during our holiday continental breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus on December 10, 2016 from 8:30-11:30am.
