For the past century, the Canal has not only been important to human commerce and transportation, it has also been utilized by a variety of marine animal species. Visit us next week, July 28 – August 2, to learn about the whales, dolphins, seals, turtles, birds, fish, and other animals that inhabit and traverse the Canal!

Special Canal Centennial Week Schedule, Daily, July 28 – August 2:

Description of Programs:

Little Flippers Story Time & Crafts (11 am daily, July 28 – August 2) – Join us for a marine animal-themed story time and craft project! Different themes every week (see below). All ages welcome; best suited for children ages 3-8. Children must be supervised. Program lasts 45-60 minutes.
Cost: Members $3/child/program; Non-members $5/child/program.

  • Tuesday, July 29 – Seals and Dolphins of the Cape Cod Canal
  • Wednesday, July 30 – Whales of the Cape Cod Canal
  • Thursday, July 31 – Herring and Fish of the Cape Cod Canal
  • Friday, August 1 – Osprey and Birds of the Cape Cod Canal
  • Saturday, August 2 – Sea Turtles and Seals of the Cape Cod Canal

Patient Update (12, 2 & 3 pm daily, July 28, July 30 – August 2) – Learn the stories of the marine animal patients currently in our care from a member of our Animal Care Team. View our current patients via live, closed-circuit TV and meet our small turtles in person. Program lasts approximately 15-20 minutes. FREE, donations welcome. All donations help care for our marine wildlife patients.

Behind the Scenes Tour (12, 2 & 3 pm, July 29 only) – Learn the stories of the marine animal patients currently in our care from a member of our Animal Care Team. Tour our marine animal hospital and view the seals and turtles currently in care. Please note that animals in critical care will be off limits to direct viewing. Program lasts approximately 30 minutes. FREE, donations welcome. All donations help care for our marine wildlife patients.

Marine Animal Medical Mystery (1 pm daily, July 28 – August 2) – What does it take to be a marine animal care technician? What are some of the questions and “mysteries” involved in wildlife rehabilitation and research? Each day we’ll learn how to care for or study a different animal. Best suited for ages 8-14. Program lasts 45-60 minutes.
Cost: Members $3/child/program; Non-members $5/child/program.

Marine Animals of the Cape Cod Canal Guest Lecture (4 pm daily, July 28 – August 2) – Through slides, discussion, and guest lecturers, learn about the whales, dolphins, seals, turtles, birds, fish, and other animals that traverse and live along the Cape Cod Canal. Program lasts 45-60 minutes. This program is sponsored by the Cape Cod Wildlife Collaborative.
Cost: Members (of any Cape Cod Wildlife Collaborative Group) $3/person, Non-members $5/person.
