Schedule A Program

Designing a prosthetic leg for a turtle is just one fun activity at National Marine Life Center!The National Marine Life Center offers a variety of educational programs about marine animals, strandings, rehabilitation, and ocean conservation. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are unable to offer in-person programming. We are pleased to offer virtual field trips for groups and classes. Programs are tailored for each audience and may include a combination of PowerPoint slides, pictures, activities when possible, and a behind-the-scenes look at the National Marine Life Center.  All of the programs listed below can be adapted for virtual lessons! The cost for all virtual programs is $100 for non-members or $75 for members/non-profits.

MARINE ANIMALS OF CAPE COD
Sea turtles in Massachusetts?  Yes!  Students will learn about the sea turtles, seals, dolphins, porpoises, and whales off the coast of Massachusetts. Program includes natural history, identification, and conservation.
Grades: pre-K through 12th
Length: 45-60 minutes
Cost: Members – $75 + mileage; Non-members –  $100 + mileage

TURTLE T.L.C.
How do you take care of a sick sea turtle?  Students will learn about sea turtle strandings, rehabilitation, and release.
Grades: 2nd through 12th
Length: 45-60 minutes
Cost: Members – $75 + mileage; Non-members –  $100 + mileage

SEAL S.O.S.
How do you take care of a sick seal?  Students will learn about seal strandings, rehabilitation, and release.
Grades: 2nd through 12th
Length: 45-60 minutes
Cost: Members – $75 + mileage; Non-members –  $100 + mileage

DOLPHIN DOCTOR
How do you take care of a sick dolphin?  Students will learn about dolphin strandings, rehabilitation, and release.
Grades: 3rd through 12th
Length: 45-60 minutes
Cost: Members – $75 + mileage; Non-members –  $100 + mileage

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
~ There is no exposure to live marine mammals or sea turtles in our programs.
~ Programs may be held at your facility or ours.
~ Cost includes all materials.
~ Mileage is free for programs in Bourne, Massachusetts and otherwise calculated at $0.575/mile round trip from Buzzards Bay. There is no mileage charge for virtual programs.
~ Programs and associated activities will be tailored to your grade level.
~ Program size is limited to one class of up to 25 students. For larger groups, please call.
~ To receive Member rates, the individual or organization scheduling the program must be a current member of the National Marine Life Center at the Family (Gray Seal) level or higher.
~ If you would like a program but are unable to pay, please call to discuss options.
~ Many of these programs – and more! – can be adapted for a virtual or contact-less lesson. Call us to discuss options!
