Making a SPLASH at the 9th Annual Mermaid Ball!

Friday, August 12 was our 9th Annual Mermaid Ball, a mermaid-themed masquerade gala with an exciting costume contest and a great silent auction, hosted by motivational speaker Loretta LaRoche.

This night is the stunning result of a long time’s planning by the Mermaid Ball Committee, consisting of NMLC board and staff members, volunteers, and interns. Our numerous generous sponsors, especially IBEW 104, Cape Cod Media Group, and Cape Cod 5 Cents Savings Bank played a big part in making the Mermaid Ball the success that it was. The past few months have been dedicated to gathering various attractive silent auction items from smaller local businesses like TJ Walton Gallery and Norton Point, to regional treasures such as Star Island and Conway Lakeside Cottages, all the way to nationally known companies like Patagonia and Southwest Airlines.

For some media coverage on the Mermaid Ball, we were featured in Wareham VillageSoup’s Wareham Week.

In sum, the Ball raised over $46,000 towards NMLC’s marine wildlife rehabilitation, science, and education programs. Thank you for attending and supporting this year’s Mermaid Ball, and we hope to see you next year!
