NMLC to Offer Week Long Summer Program: Discover Marine Animals

Students learn about threats to marine animals such as entanglement.
Students will learn about rescuing marine animals and marine debris

The National Marine Life Center is pleased to announce the launch of a new week long summer program for kids to “Discover Marine Animals”. Over the years we have received a number of requests for a week long summer program for students, so we are excited to offer this opportunity to our patrons!

Dive into the world of marine animal biology and conservation as you spend a week getting to know your favorite seafaring species. Learn how wildlife rehabilitation experts tend to turtles, study seals, and doctor dolphins!  Learn about sharks, fish, and invertebrates.  Explore a tidal habitat and collect critters to study throughout the week, and participate in exciting indoor and outdoor activities

 

Ages: 9-13 years (grades 4-7)

Students learn about marine animal rehabilitation and admit procedures.
Students will learn how we diagnose marine animal patients.

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. daily

2014 Dates: Monday July 14th– Friday July 18th

Note:  Minimum 5 children required to run the program.

Cost: 5-day workshop:  $150/members, $199/non-members

Join us for a week of ocean exploration!

Additional Notes:

~ Programs take place at NMLC, 120 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, MA.

~ There will be limited exposure to live seals, sea turtles, depending on the number and condition of our animal patients.

~ Students may spend part of each day outdoors and should come prepared with appropriate clothing including layers and sunscreen.

~ Students must bring their own lunch.  Snacks and water provided.
