Up on the Rooftop

Today, we took a field trip to the roof top of the National Marine Life Center’s new marine animal hospital!  We learned about the standing seam method of metal roof construction and the Simple Saver insulation liner that is so safe you can walk on it.  In fact, it is OSHA-approved for fall safety.  Brian and I most enjoyed the amazing views of the Bourne Bridge, the Railroad Bridge, and the Cape Cod Canal.

Lifting roof panels up to the roof.
A crane was used to lift roof panels up to the roof.
The insulation, however, was carried over by strong backs to the lift.

The left (west) side is complete with Simple Saver, two layers of insulation, and the roof panels. The right (east) side just has the Simple Saver.

An interesting view of the roofing process from inside the hospital! Workers roll out two layers of insulation on top of the Simple Saver liner.
